i'm converting my sites from html 4.x | css2.x to HTML5 and CSS3.
what was here (homepage) was very old (President Bush era) and the rest was fairly 'negative'.. even for me... : )
I Hate King 'Berry' Hussein Obama! there, got that out of my system.. lol yeah, right... useless fuck. Evil POS! Hell bent on destroying America.
* my point is, this will most likely look like shit in Microsucks, non-compliant Internet Exploder. Get mozilla Firefox or Opera or Google Chrome...
NOT. Chrome, like everything google, it Sucks and sucks Huge!

*remember, this site is not for you, it's for me. it's my 'scratch pad' and the above image is only a test of css vs html placement and sizing, because w3c and w3schools are typically wrong or incomplete. i've used css to position, size and style border. not html... idiots

Researching:

I've setteled on mediaWiki... What a pain in the ass. securing the site, something they don't tell you in any install docs. But, it's up and running.

12.2013

while working on a project, i came across Phabricator. it's a source version control system, but is also the Best implementaton of mediawiki i've ever seen!

client manageable packages eg Wordpress, mediaWiki,  Drupal , forums, phpbb, etc

Researching both a 'Forum' package using MySQL for myself and possibly a replacement for LandisTwo.com running WordPress and an option for clients who would like to make 'daily' updates to their own websites (actually for me. I hate making 'little changes'.. I want to set up a website, network (LAN, WAN) and turn it over to the 'owner' for daily maintenance) leaving me to do the backend code and design...

I've tried more than a dozen 'forum' packages over the years.

  • I Know I want it to front for MySQL.
  • It MUST be modular, or hackable to a point where I can 'include' it in a page as a 'mod', maintaining the look and feel of the site exp: Мой Яндекс search page.
  • I 'grew up' on phpbb, which is functionally great, but want it to look more like a 'wiki' or 'reference book' Without having to use 'wikimedia' syntax (code) to format the output
  • I Very Much Like the look of drupal's Forum Section. I hope I can use it as a module and Not have to have drupal for the Whole site
  • Exception to above: A client site, could use drupal assuming it is as configurable as oscommerce and wordpress on the backend, ie, edit the php directly and not using the 'admin' interface the client would use to add content.
  • Most people have heard of Wordpress and I know it has a ton on 'themes' and 'plugins'. I am very familiar with it's php back end and I have no problem hacking (customizing) it in kate via konqueror (ftp filemanager), notepad++ etc.. And the client seems happy enough, But... there is Always people like me who do Not want someone else's theme.
  • Another thing, It can Not' be a separate 'entity' from main site, this is a major dislike of wiki's, they look like a 'wiki' This goes with my 'mod' type package. I Don't want 'another site' to manage. Has to be 'part' of the main site.
  • Again, I very much like the Forum Section of Drupal's website. Hope this package can be 'plugged into' a sites main page ('included' {php}).
  • Xoops is a really nice looking package, but to go from default install to what you see at xoops is Way too much work, so it seems.
  • I found a 'new' opensource CMS concrete5.org. It's pretty nice for those that don't code. I have it installed at on Landislls.us, set up and edited without reading a single 'how-to'. Nice!
  • TexTPattern is a really nice and clean looking and seemingly easy to use CMS
  • One of the most 'beautiful' impementations of mediawiki i've ever seen has been incorporated into the docs section of Phabricaotr and a nice flatter piece by Gregory Szorc

You have to be a Moron to use google search, google anything and even Dumber to use their 'search' on You website. Their 'search' Sucks! It is the very Worst out there today! A bunch of Clueless Faggots coding at google!

You should try DuckDuckGo.
They store, cache None of your search data. They seem more a crawler than search db, but it works.

New: a Really nice Street Map: World map (1280 px) - Landis.

Very fast.. mouse wheel zooms, drag to pan. sized to my firefox browser with toolbars collapsed
~This is a 1430 x 870 px version of the openStreets map above. I use it with my medium screen, no tool/tab bars, no scrolls, no border (linux setting) ie, full screen (F11).

Also, some of my edits that you might like:

  • Bing Maps, without the white bar above and to the left of the main map / satellite window
  • Google Maps without any of google's clutter.. (1680 px (22 in lcd))
  • Google Maps 'my Airports' 'my maps' Airports i've visited (1440x904 full screen)
  • Google Maps nodata without any 'my maps' data (1440x904 full screen)
  • Google Maps nodata without any 'my maps' data (1280x800 'laptop' full screen)
  • *fyi, the above font family is 'Philosopher' imported via googlefontsdirectory.

Working on including (embedding) HTML5 video in native mp4 format

Youtube Sucks!, googles f*cked that up, straight away.. anyway, flash by Adobe is garbage, not to mention they blew off the Linux community when they, like many others crawled under the google desk and took a mouth full...

This is 'Hurt' preformed by Gamze Gokalp and Utku Bulkan

this video code contains, in order, both webm and mp4 encoded videos. which does your browser use?

'waiting for my real life to begin', my 'theme song'

this video code contains only an mp4 encoded video. does your browser play it? if not, it doesn't support mpeg4 natively

I've published an Add-on for mozilla Firefox

2013.03.30 : AM -6 GMT

This Add-on puts a 'Ying-Yang' style 'recycle' button on toolbar that allows you Restart FF as if you had installed un-installed an addon without having to Quite and then Start. This is very helpful while developing, troubleshooting, debuging FF, addons, themes and just general hacking or 'tweeking' FF.
The Addon is called Restart FF Button 0.1 and can be downloaded from Addons.Mozilla.org

Testing, include 'headtag01' that contains common <head> elements, meta's and <scripts>

index.php; include 'headtag01', header, navleft, news.html, body($DATE), navright, navrightlinks, footer

the main page, making the calls also now includes page specific 'head' elements and any page specific <style>
as there is None in the 'headtag01' page, because you can Not have 2 'style' sections, hence the test of including a second css below

this should be styled red and 18px from stylebasic2012.css

this should be styled blue and 16px from sytelcss.css

both the above are styled in 2 diff css' . this is a test to see if they are both being called..

Neither where initially styled, but styled on refresh.. wonder if size of the stylesheets are too big?
Nope.. the delay was, is due to my script for вконтакте inclusion. connection to Russia was apparently slowed at that moment.

This site is Not meant to be a 'professional' one, it's Not a tutorial, it 'raises' No money, it's Not been fact checked by anyone, other than me, it has NOT been spell-checked, ever and i don't suspect it will be... ever!
i've Never written my site (this site, LandisReed.com) for anyone but me. i use it as a 'notebook' of sorts to keep useful (to me) information that i can access from anywhere, as i code All my pages, including customers pages by hand in any number of utf-8 text editors, period.
'wysiwyg' nothing.

Anyways, I'm converting mine in my spare time and everyone should and if you don't, i make a halfass attempt to write as if someone else is reading it, but it ends up sounding, to me as if i'm talking to myself because i'm Not writing for anyone, but me... hmm, maybe i am, talking to myself.. so, humor me and pretend i'm talking to 'you', l,bnol... : ) Landis ☡

with that said, here's what i use to 'code':

  1. i Only use Linux (mostly openSuSE, SuSE and KDE).
  2. my servers are; SuSE, redhat, CentOS. my routers, cache and dns servers are; smoothwall (based on CentOS which is based on redhat).
  3. my preferred editor is a utf-8 editor on KDE called kate. on ms Win, notepad ++ or htmlkit { i used to code for it }
  4. i only use, but am Not limited to mozilla nightly not these betas, but from dev nightly, public ftp (05.05.12, i just installed google chrome to see how my css3, html5 looked in it... nice) i hate google all most as much as facebook and mircosucks, but i have to say, my pages look even nicer in chrome than mozilla nightly Aurora.. hmm
  5. i work Only live on the internet. Never 'locally' with gay 'web dev' applications that need to 'publish'
  6. to work 'live' i use konqueror (kde file manager) and, again kate using the web server drive as local drive via stfp (sshd)

and so on... pretty nice as i can start a page (edit) on my main workstation, go to garage for a smoke and coffee, work on the same page there, cop a seat and watch the Five at 5 while continuing to edit the same page, material, site on my laptop...

They (facebook) produces Nothing! You'd be 'buy' shares of a Lie and a freak, Zuckerberg. Fuck them, him!

I swear... 'smart' people are fucking idiots!

do the idiots writting the 'standards' for and advocating for the use of CSS3 over simple element tags even use the stuff?
when writting the simple element <td>, and i want to, on this one, vertically align, id write <td valign="center">
but no... they think it's 'better' to use css. So, if you don't have a defined css delcaration, you have to write one and take into account the 100 posible declarations for any given selector.. what the fuck
Ok, now you have your css written.. here's what you now have to right, at a minimum assuming you can remember what you called this selector deffinition
<td class="NameOfDecloration"ɬ or with no 'pre-defined' selector you just want to write it here and now like you would have with valign,
<tx style="margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; margin-top:(pick a pixel number... blah, blah..>..

again, i didn't mind css, but like every other fucking leftist's, 'i know more than you' agenda, it's gotten way out of hand.. Assholes

Only a fag would think that the 'glide pad' is a good idea.. It's a novelty that should have never lived past 1993. It is an unproductive hindrance to my workflow.
